In case you weren’t aware, there’s an event held each year to honor the best in motion pictures from around the world, and it’s known as the Academy Awards or the Oscars. Worried that people may not be familiar with this small, humble ceremony in a tiny California town, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences released this new teaser trailer for the event that takes place on March 4. In it, the ceremony’s host, Ellen Degeneres, lip syncs to a song by Fitz and the Tantrums while she dances through the streets in a tuxedo.
Now if I’ve learned anything from movie marketing in 2013, this is just the first step of a campaign that will feature everything from product tie-ins to a giant Oscar statue being branded into the moon’s surface. And maybe an ice cream flavor if there’s time.
