Miles Teller Is Down To Make Another ‘Fantastic Four’ Movie

Hot on the media trail for his new film War Dogs and proudly entering the “blondes have more fun” phase of his career, Miles Teller can’t be stopped. He’s earned critical acclaim for Whiplash and felt the box office bonanza of the Divergent franchise (even if Allegiant‘s mild box office performance has the studio targeting TV for Ascendant), and he’s certainly hoping to be mentioned in Best Actor conversations come awards season for his portrayal of boxer Vinny Paz in the upcoming Bleed for This. Teller is young and talented and has all the confidence an A-lister in the making could ever need, so it’s no surprise that he’s even willing to face his biggest failure head-on in a sequel.

Enough has been said about Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four reboot that the mere mention of the franchise causes comic book movie fans to cringe. The film was a financial and critical failure when it was released in 2015, and it’s hard to believe that anyone involved with Trank’s Fantastic Four is thinking a sequel is a good idea, especially the guy who almost fought the director. But Teller isn’t afraid of bad reviews and a poor box office performance, as he told Jo Blo that he is willing to stretch himself into the role of Reed Richards again.

I loved the cast, I loved the characters. I think it’s such an interesting dynamic. I love how much they really need to rely on each other. This Avengers thing, they’ve kind of created their own Fantastic Four in a way, Marvel’s first family. Their powers can’t just exist on their own, you need Thor to do this, the Hulk to do his thing. So yeah, absolutely, I would do another one.

You have to admire his enthusiasm and also the fact that he can flip an embarrassment into a lesson. Would Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Bell, and Kate Mara also put the first film behind them and try again with a new script and director? Maybe. Producer Simon Kinberg still seems optimistic that it could happen. The bigger question, though, is whether or not fans are willing to spend any more of their money on what could be another mistake.
