In celebration of Friday, I bring you five of the best audition tapes the internetz have to offer. Real movie auditions or fictional, I didn't differentiate – my only rule was that it had to be movie or movie-related, and reality shows were off limits (you could spend an entire day on YouTube and still not see every American Idol tryout, gugh…).
Watch me bring the hilarity, after the jump.
Parker Posey in Waiting for Guffman – "Who's on Bottom No-ow?"
This is actually from the deleted scenes of Waiting for Guffman, but I think it's better than anything in the movie. I especially like the fat guy with glasses sitting on Chris Guest's right whose character is never explained or referred to the entire film. Parker Posey wrote the whole thing too, according to YouTube. And YouTube never lies. Isn't she cute?
Ron Burgundy Auditions for ESPN
I kind of wish the entire Anchorman movie had been edited this tightly.
Christopher Walken, Richard Dreyfuss, and Walter Matthau Audition for Star Wars
Kevin Pollak may do a better Walken, but Spacey sure is fun to watch.
Brian Atene – "Good Day, Mr. Kubrick"
No audition list would be complete without the man who single-handedly destroyed Juilliard's reputation. I like how he can somehow pronounce "crutches" so that it has six syllables.
Yes, it's another oldie but goodie, but come on, the guy practically invented viral video. I've seen him on TV shows complaining about how he's a professional stuntman with credits a mile long, but lost jobs because the one video where he screwed up after being on a plane for 12 hours and not sleeping got leaked. He's always like, "I don't see what's the big deal." Well, sorry you lost jobs, pal, but put aside your ego – this is like the perfect storm of comedy. The cocky snort at the beginning, faceplant, the half conscious nunchuck attempt, the stagger off screen, the off screen crash sound – you couldn't write this, because no one would believe it.
So You Think You Can Dance Self-Knockout – Not movie-related, still hilarious.
America's Got Talent Chair Jump Disaster – Again, not movie -related, but possibly the best faceplant I've ever seen. I don't know what's better, his completely unconscious body flipping end over end, or the fact that the judges don't know if it's part of the act.
Chris Kattan and Chris Parnell Audition for Britney Spears video – What can I say, spastic dance moves get me every time.
Butters Auditions for Fingerbang – Speaks for itself, really.
The rest of the Waiting for Guffman Auditions – They're great, but I still don't know why they didn't include Parker Posey's other audition.
