Universal recently announced that Lost and Cloverfield producer JJ Abrams will be developing an earthquake movie with Omen (original and remake) screenwriter David Seltzer.

As with any project Abrams is involved with, details are being kept under wraps. What we do know is that it isn’t a remake of Universal’s 1974 film Earthquake, and that it will focus more on the relationships between people caught in the disaster. [/Film]

First a Blair Witch ripoff and now a disaster movie.  Did JJ Abrams stop watching movies in the mid 90s?  In related news, one time I saw a newspaper headline that said "EARTHQUAKE ROCKS CHINA" and I thought to myself it would be really cool if I was in a metal band called "Earthquake."
