The Con Game Gets Painful For Will Smith In The Trailer For ‘Focus’

The timing for Focus is pretty interesting. Here’s a movie starring Will Smith and Margot Robbie as partners in crime (and more?) and this first trailer looks like it has everything that scratches that key demographic of men ages 18-49 in all the right places. Fast cars, piles of cash, well-dressed con artists pulling grift after grift, a ridiculously attractive young actress, and, of course, Big Willie Style. So why the hell is Focus hitting theaters on February 27, 2015? Late Feb. is a pushover time for movies. That’s where B-list stars go to make easy money without having to challenge the summer stock. That’s not Will Smith time, which means that it could mean that Focus is a stinker.

Then again, maybe the biggest grift of all is a studio dropping a quality, fast-paced thriller in theaters to take all of our money before any of the other movies can. Either way, keep pushing Robbie as a star, please.
