WATCH: New spot for 'The Campaign,' starring Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis

With all the movies about superheroes and aliens and beloved former presidents who fight vampires floating around, The Campaign has sort of flown under the radar. That’s a shame, because it stars Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis as two Southern politicians, with Jason Sudeikis in a supporting role, which is like a comedic dream team. It was also written by Shawn Harwell and Chris Henchy, who work together on Eastbound and Down. The bad news? It’s directed by Jay Roach, who had one of the best comedy casts ever assembled in Dinner for Schmucks and still made one of the most painfully unfunny comedies I’ve ever seen. …Game Change kinda sucked too. Also, Will Ferrell seems to be doing his George W. impression the entire time. Hmmm.

“Uday and Falaffel?” Really? That’s a joke you thought was strong enough to include? More than three people read this script and you left that in there? Jesus, that’s worse than the “nocturnal, like a bat” joke from Jack and Jill. You have to wonder what the Jay Roach editing process looks like. Because in my mind it looks like Jay Roach lighting farts with producers’ money.

Opens August 10th. Rated Arrrggh for Pirates, f*ck you.
