For the unfamiliar, the website omaze offers people the chance to donate money in order to win some really cool experiences to benefit some pretty great charities and organizations. For example, you can currently chip in just $10 to enter your name for the opportunity to hang out with the cast of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia at Paddy’s Pub, or you can drop $10 for the chance to meet the entire cast of 2 Broke Girls and watch them film an episode. While I don’t necessarily want to know the person who wants that second one, it all goes toward a great cause in the end, and that’s what really matters.
Both of those pale in comparison, though, to omaze’s latest offering – a chance to actually perform on stage with the cast of Anchorman on November 21.
WHAT YOU’LL DO: You & a friend will meet Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Christina Applegate, Paul Rudd, David Koechner, legendary journalist and Anchorman narrator Bill Kurtis & more at a VIP reception before the show, and then the winner will read a few lines on stage with cast members during the live reading of Anchorman, presented by Adam McKay & Judd Apatow.
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN: How to deliver a couple hilarious lines from one of the most quotable movies of all time, how comedic legends Judd Apatow, Will Ferrell, and Adam McKay make the magic happen, and whether Veronica Corningstone’s hair truly does smell like cinnamon.
Proceeds will go to 826LA, which is raising money to help tutor 500 kids, ages 6 to 18, and inspire them to work toward building on their creative and expository writing skills. They’ve got my $10 and eventually $500 if I can generate enough plasma in time.
