L.A. Times Website To Have Casual Games Because…Er…

It’s a bit facetious to blame the death of the newspaper on the Internet.  The truth is that if anything, the Internet is serving as a gentle Dr. Kevorkian to an industry that was already dying from circulation fraud, a stubborn unwillingness to evolve and a host of other things.

Still, it is a little troubling to see one of the most respected news organizations in America flailing so badly that they’re adding a suite of casual games to their website for…well…

Honestly, we’re still figuring that one out. Sure, a crossword fits in. It’s a newspaper. But they pretty much straight up admit that they’re hoping that by adding casual games, people looking for casual games will come to latimes.com. Come for Monkey Gems, stay for the hard-hitting reporting about the city of Vernon getting disincorporated? We guess? Maybe?
