Disney Announces That They’ll Be Shutting Down Their ‘Avengers Alliance’ Games At The End Of The Month

When it comes to the performance of video games, Disney has absolutely no mercy. They sliced the legs out from Disney Infinity after it failed to deliver and now they’ll be doing the same to the Marvel: Avengers Alliance games, says EW. This comes hot off the heels of the release of Avengers Alliance 2 for mobile devices, only for that game to fail to deliver to their expectations.

Instead of letting it die a slow death on the vine, Disney has decided to step in and cut it off like a rotting appendage before the infection can spread. Their statement is as cold as you could imagine.

Today we are announcing the shutdown of Marvel: Avengers Alliance and Marvel: Avengers Alliance 2 on all platforms, including the App Store®, Google Play™, Amazon Appstore, Windows Phone Store, and Facebook. Beginning today, we are no longer accepting new purchases or downloads, but the games will be available to play until September 30, 2016.

So if you were one of the [apparently] few who were enjoying your time in Avengers Alliance 2 you have less than a month to dabble around in it and enjoy whatever you can before Disney pulls the plug altogether and leaves the game’s hopes and dreams smoldering. The team behind the game says that they’ve moved on to newer projects, but really, Disney is stone cold when it comes to their games performing, aren’t they?
