‘Street Fighter V’ Unveils Its Latest Character And New Details On Its Online Features

Today at the Tokyo Game Show, Capcom unveiled the latest addition to the Street Fighter V roster, and this one is another deep dive. Karin, who’s previously only appeared in one game (Street Fighter Alpha 3), is a pampered heiress, who decided to take up street fighter rather than going the Kim Kardashian route. While not particularly well-known in The West, she’s apparently quite popular in Japan, which explains why she made the cut while we have yet to see hide nor hair of Blanka or Zangief.

Capcom also announced the Capcom Fighters Network, which is basically a suite of features designed to foster a sense of online community among Street Fighter V players. Here’s a list of the features from Capcom…

– See where battles are happening all over the world on a “heat map”
– View player profiles and detailed match statistics
– Designate “rivals” throughout the world and monitor their performance
– Register friends and follow your favorite players
– Search and watch replay files
– Send online battle invitations
– Check out the latest patch and tournament news

I like the sounds of this, as I often find it difficult to make connections and find good opponents in online games. Hopefully this will help me locate friendly players who are as hopeless at Street Fighter as I am.
