‘Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege’ Deploys Its First Trailer

As strange as it may sound, it’s been seven years since a Rainbow Six game was released for consoles. Since then, the franchise has largely been operating in secret, but it’s finally arriving this October… and thus, it’s time for a trailer!

We don’t get a lot of gameplay footage, although we do get to see a shotgun round with a drill in it that I hope gets abused a few times. But the game itself has a heavy multiplayer focus, and the destruction you see isn’t just for show: Rainbow Six Siege will feature highly destructible environments. Essentially, it’s five-on-five multiplayer, going through indoor levels and rescuing hostages, shooting terrorists, that kind of thing. Among the nice touches in gameplay is that players have to vote on certain strategies, like how you’ll breach a building, to limit any Leeroy Jenkins-type screwups.

As for how it’ll play out, we’ll see Oct. 13, but if you want to be a part of the beta, it’s tied to preorders. But you can get on a “wait-list” for the beta, so if you want to try it out, it looks like you’ll have a shot.
