Nomadic Communities Trust has partnered with Designmatters and PRISM to create something awesome. Using a mini fridge, lightweight bamboo, and crystalline solar panels, they’ve designed a mobile clinic that can transport refridgeration-required medicines and vaccines on a camel’s back across rough terrain far off the grid. The solar panels can even generate enough extra electricity to run lights for the mobile clinic.
The prototypes were tested on camels in the Bronx Zoo, and the latest model is now being used on camels in Kenya and Ethiopia. Okay, it’s great that this saves lives and all, but is anybody else thinking what I’m thinking? Camel kegerator tailgate party. Let’s do this.
