Playing WOW Builds Your Moose Defense

By / 06.08.10

Twelve-year-old Norwegian Hans Jørgen Olsen defended his little sister and himself against a moose attack using strategies he learned while playing World of Warcraft.  While taking a shortcut through the forest on the way to school, they ran into an angry, territorial moose.  When the moose charged at them, Hans taunted it (with Bullwinkle impressions I would assume) to lure it away from his 10-year-old sister, a trick WOW players use to lure monsters away from weaker teammates.  When the moose charged after him instead of her and butted him in the back (most of the blow being absorbed by his backpack), he had to come up with another WOW-inspired plan:

The idea to play dead, he had learned from playing online role-playing game World of Warcraft.  “When you reach level 30, you learn a trick called the ‘fake death’. That’s what I did – I pretended I was dead, and then the moose lost interest,” says the brave 12-year-old. [Nettavisen.no via NextNature via ToplessRobot]

This kid rules.  He should make a career out of battling that moose.  SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY: The Nordic Night Elf versus the European Elk.  You’ll pay for the whole seat, but you’ll only need THE EDGE.
