Sam Raimi, who’s already attached to the World of Warcraft movie and Oz, The Great And Powerful, is now also attached to direct the adaptation of “Earp: Saints for Sinners” from Radical Publishing. The script will be written by co-writer of the graphic novel Matt Cirulnick.
The film and graphic novel re-imagines Earp — best known for the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral, where he fought alongside his two brothers and compadre Doc Holliday — set in a future in which he takes on outlaws in a ravaged society where the only boomtown left is Las Vegas. [Heatvision]
So it’s a sci-fi western, but could it possibly be as good as Jonah Hex? And will it actually get made? Radical Publishing has been flipping movie rights all over the place, but no films have yet been finished. They’re most recently developing Last Days of American Crime (Sam Worthington attached) and Oblivion (Joe Kosinski attached). If this movie falls through like other Radical movies have, Raimi should totally do a Wyatt Derp biopic instead. Every dog in a cowboy outfit has a story.
