Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Wireless

By / 08.04.10

Winner gets that sweetass hotel couch.

Zachery Shivers and Anne Flinchbaug have upgraded an old Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots game to be wirelessly controlled by four TI Chronos watches worn on each wrist of two players.  This is their entry in the TI Co-Op Design Challenge.  It has eight servos as well as a 2 GB SD card to record scores and replay matches.  That “replaying matches” feature could make for some awesome pranks.  The parts used and source code is available here, where they also say:

Technology is growing at such a fast and exciting pace, leaving the old, classic games to be forgotten in the toy closet. By adding an interactive feature to Rock ‘em Sock ‘em Robots, this project brings the simple game back to life! [Texas Instruments via Hackaday]

Yeah, no.  Still not going to play this cute but boring game.  Call me when you can set this up for Hungry Hungry Hippos, with the only way to win being to eat a whole box of Girl Scout Thin Mints.  Now there’s a game that understands what I, the consumer, demand in my augmented reality gaming experience.

Needs more robot fighting.
