EA Shows Old People “Dead Space 2”

So, EA has a new ad campaign for “Dead Space 2”, emphasizing that your mom won’t like it, because all gamers are still teenagers, and thus offending parents is a huge selling point. And that’s just the start of what has to be the most tone deaf ad campaign for a video game since “Phalanx” featured a dude with a banjo on its cover.
First of all, the moms in this shoot look more like grandmas to me. Gee, old people don’t like gore? What a shock. Secondly…what’s the hook here? It’s not like we don’t know “Dead Space” is a franchise that goes heavy on the gore and isn’t restrained in any way, shape, or form. It’s not like the last one was Isaac Clarke’s Magical Unicorn Rainbow Adventures. You were stomping baby corpses on a regular basis. I’ve been gaming for two solid decades and that was pretty extreme even for me.
Anyway, judge the campaign for yourself: there are a bunch of videos from it on the next slide.

And, just for giggles, here’s the campaign’s theme song.
