There’s a Dinosaur Named “Thunder Thighs”?

Why is there a fanart picture of Chun-Li with enormous muscled thighs tagged to this post about dinosaurs? Easy: you Google “thunder thighs” and see what turns up. This was the most appropriate image I could find (and it came from a hilarious semi-NSFW forum thread found here).

Anyway, the dinosaur, officially brontomerus mcintoshi, was discovered to have ridiculously powerful thighs according to the bone evidence. Interestingly, the way the muscles are laid out, it seems like Brontomerus was designed not to walk along but to deliver a good hard kick to the face of predators.

Beyond giving us a hilarious image, it’s also important as it establishes that there were still sauropods in the Cretaceous Period, something under dispute. Also, these bones were nearly destroyed by commercial dinosaur fossil hunters, something to keep in mind, the next time you’re looking for a paperweight.
