“Chew”, for those unfamiliar, is a comic book about Tony Chu, a cop and a “cibopath”, that is, he can learn about the history of something just by eating it. No matter what it is, even if it’s disgusting. There’s also more backstory to it, namely that chicken is now an illegal substance on the same level as illegal drugs due to avian flu…or at least that’s the official story. Obviously, there’s more to it than that.
Not that it really matters, since, this being Hollywood, it’ll probably be a TV show about a guy who hunts down murderers by eating disgusting things. Which is actually a good thing, since the comic is overstuffed and pretty much blows its concept by being cutesy and ridiculous. Still, we’re looking forward to the nerd arguments over how bad the show is because they don’t go to a telescope in the middle of the tundra.
