Matt Damon Almost Played Daredevil, Glad He Didn’t

Trying to choose the favorite between Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, is as hopeless as trying to determine whether Betty of Veronica was the better high school stalker. And while Affleck has already won my boner over with Kevin Smith’s Mallrats and Chasing Amy, I don’t think I’m out of line in saying that, between the two, Matt Damon seems to have chosen his movie roles a little bit more carefully -like, I think he actually reads the scripts before deciding whether or not to participate. I’m not saying Damon hasn’t made some fart turds in the past, but it just seems like sometimes Ben Affleck is tossing darts at projects and picking whichever script they land on. That’s right Daredevil, I’m looking directly at you -but truth be told, it looks like Damon nearly bloodied his own hands with Matt Murdock’s stink -again, that is until he actually read the script and considered the project.

Damon told The Times:

“I would have done Daredevil,” he said. “Ben and I loved that comic book but I just didn’t quite believe in the script or the director at the time.” [DigitalSpy]

Let it be known that on the same year Matt Damon went on to make Stuck on You, so maybe he was just lying about that whole “believing in the script” thing -then again, maybe he was trying to do something he thought was funny so that people would quit thinking he was the Bert to Affleck’s Ernie.

“The reality is that if Michael Bay had offered me Armageddon when Good Will Hunting was in the can, which was when Ben got offered the role, I would have taken it too. I would have taken any job that any director offered me at that point. And if Ben had been offered Saving Private Ryan he would have done it, but suddenly I became the serious one. It’s all bulls**t.

Wait, so you’re saying that you would have done any job that any director offered you? Hmmmm, very interesting…very interesting in deed…
