Why Does Valve Hate Ad Agencies?

Valve is one of those companies that seems awesome to work for. They promote on merit, they make awesome projects, and have discovered a new type of time that allows them to take as long as they want on projects without any of them getting labeled “the new Duke Nukem Forever”. But one company that won’t be working with Valve is…any ad agency.
It turns out that Valve does all of its marketing work in-house. Why? Because ad agencies basically treated them like crap. Late meetings, crappy pitches, and essentially an overall treatment that made Valve realize they were less than valued by the advertising world.
