“Batman Live” Looks . . . Um . . .

In our scramble to constantly bash Spider-Man: We’re Going To Need Another Timmy we haven’t said much about that other comics-inspired stage show, Batman Live.  Now the first pictures and a character introduction video have been released, which both /film and io9 compare to the Joel Schumacher WTF-fest that was Batman & Robin and Batman Forever.  In fairness, this is an arena show targeted to very young audiences, so campy outfits are to be expected (if anything, we should be asking why Catwoman and Poison Ivy were channelling their inner stripper in the video below).

Developed by Warner Brothers and DC Comics, the show opens this July in Manchester, England, then goes on the road in the UK, premiering in North America next year.  Nick Grace Management and Water Lane Production are involved; they’re the ones behind the awesome Walking With Dinosaurs.  The story is written by Alan Burnett, who has been involved in a ton of shows kids like.  In other words, this is the type of show to watch with your kids or with orphans you’re allowed to take back to your mansion even though the last two orphans have died under mysterious circumstances, which isn’t disturbing at all.
