The Hobbit Gets Titles, Release Dates, The White Council, And A Hot Chick

By / 05.31.11

New Line Cinema, Warner Brothers, and MGM have announced the titles and release dates for Peter Jackson’s two Hobbit films.  The first part is The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (opening 12/14/2012) and the second is The Hobbit: There and Back Again (opening 12/13/2013). Now on to the casting news.

Way back in December, we reported Orlando Bloom was in talks to appear in the two Hobbit movies as Legolas even though the character isn’t in the books. Peter Jackson announced on Facebook that Bloom will be returning as Legolas.  Good for her.  This movie could use some more hot chicks.

Speaking of things that weren’t originally in The Hobbit but will be seen on screen, Peter Jackson has also announced the White Council’s battle with Sauron at Dol Guldur will be in more than one scene in both movies.  Awe. Some.  More background on that is over at TheMarySue if you’re not familiar with the battle. (And knowing is half of it.)
