Harvard Lays Groundwork For Crappy Iron Man Villain

Anybody remember the Living Laser? He was a guy who implanted laser diodes all over his body to try and fight the Avengers; it ended about as well as you’d expect. Well, now, Harvard scientists are trying to make him real by creating a biological laser diode.

It works like this: an embryonic human kidney cell was engineered to produce enhanced green fluorescent protein, the stuff that makes jellyfish glow. Place it between two mirrors, blast it with blue light, and presto, you’ve got a visible, biological laser.

Next steps include figuring out how to implant them in humans, and using them to destroy Count Nefaria.
