Hawkman Movie Is “What” Meets “The Hell?”

A couple days ago we linked to a comedy sketch by Frog Island Films (video below) about Hawkman trying to get the other superheroes to read his Hawkman film script.  It’s funny because there’s no way anyone would make a Hawkman movie, right?  Right?  Guys?

The latest super hero film news comes from It’sOnTheGrid (via BAD) with word of a “Hawkman” picture apparently in development. According to IOTG’s info, the picture is being shepherded by producers Adrian Askarieh, Gregory Noveck and Will Hackner on board as the production executive. [ThePlaylist]

So it’s possible DC will eventually get a greenlight on a frikkin Hawkman movie before a Wonder Woman film or TV show gets picked up?  The log-line for this Hawkman movie had better be pretty damn fantastic to justify this. Oh, here it is:

“Part INDIANA JONES/DA VINCI CODE, part GHOST tentpole about the fictional superhero that appears in D.C. Comic books. He used archaic weaponry and large, artificial wings attached to a harness made of the Nth metal that allows flight. Most incarnations of Hawkman work closely with a partner/romantic interest named Hawkgirl or Hawkwoman in his fight against supervillains. Based on the DC comic.” [actual log-line of this project, via ThePlaylist]

Part Indiana Jones / Da Vinci Code (apparently all one movie now) and part Ghost?  What the hell does that even mean?  Is this their way of explaining “a reincarnated Egyptian prince who is now an archeologist (and can fly)” to drooling nitwit executives?  Do we have to name three movies that made money and are tenuously related to archeology and dead people and hope borderline-pants-crappingly stupid studio execs somehow infer “a reincarnated Egyptian prince who is now an archeologist (and can fly)” from that idiotic Hollywood shorthand?  Are they really too stupid to understand the very basic, slapped-together origin story of Carter Hall?  Forget I said that.  Of course they are.
