A Compendium of Cool Comics Cosplay – July 22nd

Welcome again to our weekly feature on our pick of the best of comics cosplay! With San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, there’ll be hundreds of fans stepping out in costume, so here’s a little taster of the skill and craft that will be on display.
Gamma Squad is committed to giving a voice to the cosplay community. Each week there is a spotlight on our favorite costumes and a monthly cosplay contest in which we’d love for cosplayers to participate. We’ll be picking a theme for each month and inviting cosplayers, costumers and photographers to submit related pictures of their work to our Flickr group to be considered. We’ll then pick our top choices and post them on Gamma Squad for the adoration of all.
The themes for the upcoming months are:

  • July: The Avengers
  • August: The Walking Dead
  • September: The DC Reboot
  • With only a week to go before we announce the winners of our Avengers cosplay contest, it’s your last chance to get those entries in! But for now, it’s another selection of the best of comics cosplay.

This cosplay’s enhanced by some amazing photography and makes us think the Avengers movie is missing a trick by not including Wanda Maximoff, if a fan can bring the character so impressively to life.

Birds of Prey’s Dinah Lance is brought to life by BladeAlchemist, who surely looks like she could kick all our asses in that costume.

Spidey9323 of The League of Heroes has some added extras to his costume to help him stand out from the crowd. A webbing backpack? Very practical!

Coretooz goes 90s style in his Bishop cosplay, making sure to include at least one gun bigger than his head.

With Barbara Gordon’s return to the Batsuit in DC’s reboot in October, no doubt she’ll be the focus of even more cosplayers. Here kiana301 takes to the rooftops in her take on the costume.
