People Really Did Shut Up And Eat Their Awesome

Awesome.

A couple weeks ago Shia LaBeouf promised Transformers 3 was “the greatest 3-D film ever made” and we invited everyone to shut up and eat their awesome.  And, despite Bay recycling some action scenes, audiences lapped up their awesome.  As of this weekend, Transformers: Dark of the Moon has passed $261 million in domestic gross, which means it has the highest domestic gross of any movie so far this year.  In terms of worldwide gross, it’s at $558 million, which still puts it far behind Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (in first place for worldwide grosses this year in excess of $1 billion).  In other news, I spotted a dime between the seats of my car and can almost reach it.

WB and DC’s turkey Green Lantern, on the other hand, made only $3.1 million in its fourth week of release.  The total domestic gross for the movie is just over $100 million compared to the over $200 million budget.  And yet they’re still planning a sequel because selling toys is very, very profitable.

Speaking of toys, we found an amazing, exclusive .gif of the very first transformer Shia LaBeouf ever battled, and it’s not who you think.  That’s after the jump along with an alternate poster for Transformers: Dark of the Moon their marketing team didn’t use for some reason:

It’s a Decepticon! Run Shia!
