First Clip From The Thing Prequel Features…The Thing?!

Look, it’s no secret that John Carpenter’s 1982 The Thing is a horror masterpiece. I mean, come on, it’s got Kurt Russell and shapeshifting sled dogs in it. Point being, I’m scared to death of this upcoming The Thing prequel, from director Matthijs van Heijningen Jr., and I dare to imagine that I’m probably not the only one.

Well, in an attempt to win our hearts over, the studio has just released the first clip from the film – something I’m still trying to figure out whether or not is a good thing. The clip features that same block of ice from the Carpenter version, only this time around we catch a glimpse of the creature that’s frozen inside. Hell, we even get a brief look at said-monster exploding out of its icy shackles. So does this clip make anyone excited for the October release? Decide for yourself and let me know if I’m just being overly emo, because it’s Friday.
