A Compendium of Cool Comics Cosplay: Spider-man and Friends (Week 1)

It’s time once again for Gamma Squad’s Friday cosplay feature, spotlighting the best comic book related costuming from the cosplay community.  We’re again casting the spotlight onto those cosplayers who we think deserve special recognition for coming up with the best costumes, whatever the budget, and the photographers who capture them for posterity.

For the next two weeks we’re celebrating the holiday season with a special Spider-man theme, with the cream of cosplay from across the web (no pun intended), submitted to our Flickr group or by our friends at The Superhero Costuming Forum. No snow and turkey, but plenty of webspinning from your friendly neighborhood cosplayers.

So, without further ado, let’s continue with this week’s selection!

Spider-man cosplay by Loganallenwolf of The Superhero Costuming Forum

It’s a pleasure to be able to feature Loganallenwolf, who has been a big supporter of this feature, with his fantastic Spider-man cosplay, made even better by the sheer dedication of capturing these New York location shots.

Sandman cosplay is always going to stand or fall by its props, and this cosplayer certainly impresses with some excellent sand accessories.

Mary Jane Watson cosplay by GrangeAir. Source: Deviantart

An MJ cosplay heavily influenced by the 90s cartoon version and capturing the look perfectly.

Doctor Octopus by Xais at American Cosplay Paradise. Source: ACParadise.com

Since Doctor Octopus hit the big time in the Spider-man movies, many cosplayers have been influenced by his big screen redesign. So it’s something of a pleasing novelty to see cosplay of his comic roots.

Black Cat got a redesign for the Ultimate line of comics and we thought it appropriate to feature this fantastic cosplayer, who reproduced that design in reality.

Humberto Ramos’ redesign of Norman Osborn is brought vividly to life in this stunning cosplay, perfect in every detail.

Civil War Spider-man by Spider_Man. Source: Cosplay.com

And speaking of detail, this fantastic cosplay of Iron Spider-man captures the look from Marvel’s Civil War event perfectly, even down to the rips and tears in the costume.

Spider-Girl by Panda of The Superhero Costuming Forum

The new Spider-girl, Anya Corazon, may have failed to set the comics world alight with her solo title, but it’s great to see she’s represented by her fans, even in the world of cosplay.

Spider-man Noir cosplay by Volnixshin on Cosplay.com. Photo by TheBigTog. Source: Cosplay.com

Something different, from Marvel’s Noir limited series. And Volnixshin putting his own particular spin (again, no pun intended) on the redesign.

The Lizard costume by Spider-Ham. Source: The RPF

We couldn’t have a week dedicated to Spider-man and his villains gallery without including this utterly mindblowing Lizard costume.

One hapless cosplayer becomes the victim of another in this shot. Both perfectly looking the part.
