Brighten Your Morning with “The Blade Runner Sketchbook”

One of the great tragedies of publishing is the fact that “The Blade Runner Sketchbook” is out of print.

Argue all you want about how faithful the movie was to Philip K. Dick’s novel, there’s no denying the design of the movie influenced, well, pretty much everything about pop culture for nearly a decade. Syd Mead’s designs pretty much defined what we thought the worst case scenario for the future would look like until we realized Wal Mart would be making our dystopias.

And, of course, being that it’s a beloved film that nerds and film students alike obsess over, the book’s been kept out of print for years thanks to Warner Brothers throwing a hissy about how they don’t get all the money (it’s more complicated than that, but legal stuff is boring.

Fortunately, nerds have scanners, so ComicsAlliance has the full sketchbook embedded for your workplace enjoyment. And, hey, it’s not like you’ve got anything to do: it’s two days before New Year’s, after all. Besides, those background wallpapers aren’t going to make themselves! Hey, you’re working! It’s productivity!
