The Super Size Me Guy Made A Comic-Con Documentary

By 02.27.12

During San Diego Comic-Con 2012, Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me) directed a documentary which was also produced by Stan Lee and Joss Whedon. (GRRR, nerd cred!) Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan’s Hope will come out the same weekend as Whedon’s The Avengers (April 6th, 2012). As the official synopsis words it:

Welcome to Comic-Con San Diego. What started as a fringe comic book convention for 500 fans has grown into the pop culture event of the year that influences every form of entertainment, now attended by over 140,000 strong. [The film] explores this amazing cultural phenomenon by following the lives of five attendees as they descend upon the ultimate geek mecca at San Diego Comic-Con 2010

The three main attendees they focus on in the trailer below are a toy collector, a cosplay designer, and an aspiring comic book artist. They also interweave interviews with celebrities attending the con like Seth Rogen, Kevin Smith, Eli Roth, Seth Green, Guillermo del Toro, Frank Miller, and Matt Groening. And yet not one of these people clued them in that “Spider-Man” has a hyphen in it.
