Sony's Making Its Own Smash Bros. With Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale

Information that Sony was working on its own Super Smash Bros. style crossover fighting game leaked a few weeks back, but today Sony confirmed it — the game’s been given the not-particularly-catchy name “Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale” and will be coming out sometime in late 2012.

So far the only confirmed characters are Kratos, PaRappa the Rappa, Sly Cooper, Sweet Tooth, Fat Princess and some guy from Killzone. I’m going to go out on a really crazy limb and say Nathan Drake and Sackboy might end up in there too.

The game’s being developed by a new American studio SuperBot Entertainment, which was founded just to make this game. Hit the jump to check out footage of Sony’s new brawler…

Wow, um, okay — so, this isn’t so much inspired by Smash Bros., as it is completely identical in every way to Smash Bros. Also, is it just me or does this game actually have less impressive graphics than four-year-old Wii game Smash Bros. Brawl? Still, the game does give you the opportunity to beat up Kratos with PaRappa the Rappa, so it’s got that going for it.

Here’s another video that partially explains the game’s fighting system, different modes and whatnot. Also lots of juicy PR speak.

So folks, what do you think? Are you at all interested in Sony Smash Bros? Let your delight/disgust be known in the comments.
