The Wachowskis’ Jupiter Ascending Sounds Like Snow White In Space

By 06.01.12

When we last heard about the Wachowskis’ Jupiter Ascending, Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis were likely to be the leads of the sci-fi trilogy about “space colonies at war”. Now Vulture has learned more about the plot, and they also report Joseph Gordon-Levitt is being sought for a role. You can read the full plot synopsis over there, but here’s the short version.

Earthlings are being monitored by more advanced humans living on other planets and moons. These other humans have DNA enhanced with animal DNA. Kunis will be playing a Russian immigrant, working as a janitor, who turns out to have “the same perfect genetic makeup as the Queen of the Universe and is therefore a threat to her otherwise immortal rule.” You’re damn right Mila Kunis has perfect DNA.

As Vulture points out, this shares some similarity to the plot of Snow White remake Mirror Mirror. To continue the Snow White parallels, this next bit mirrors the plot of another Snow White remake:

Pretty soon, a bounty hunter of the evolved-being type is dispatched to dispose of the Cleaning Lady with the Great Pair of Nucleotides, but, as you’d expect with a Matrix re-dux, they fall in love. (Here again, we wanted to point out that this movie has also already been made, and that it is called Snow White and the Huntsman, but again, we didn’t want to interrupt.) [Vulture]

The bounty hunter is rumored to be played by Channing Tatum. Hold up, C-Tates as an interplanetary bounty hunter with partial animal DNA? Burnsy could have a field day with that. You can call C-Tates “Boba Phat“, and he’s his own animal sidekick. Holla atchya boy, but not in space ‘cuz nobody can hear it, son. CHUCH.
