As Of 2013 Grant Morrison Is Done With Superheroes. Also, Batman Incorporated #3 Delayed Due To Aurora Shootings

With the possible exception of Geoff Johns, no writer has had a bigger influence on the DC Universe over the past few years than Grant Morrison. For years DC kept Morrison’s craziness quarantined over at Vertigo, but over the last half-decade or so they let him have his way with Batman and Superman and even let him do a big event crossover with Final Crisis. Morrison has definitely left his mark on the DC landscape, but apparently he’s now ready to move on from the superhero stuff

“The “Action Comics” run concludes with issue #16, “Batman Incorporated” wraps up my take with issue #12, and after that I don’t have any plans for monthly superhero books for a while. “Multiversity” is eight issues and I’m 30-odd pages into a Wonder Woman project but those are finite stories.”

You know what? Good. I was a huge fan of Morrison’s Vertigo work, but his mainstream DC superhero work has been an extremely mixed bag in my opinion. I just think the guy works best when there are no limits on his creativity.

In other Morrison related news, Batman Incorporated #3 has been delayed over sensitivity concerns in the wake of the Aurora, Co shooting tragedy. Some copies of the issue had already shipped to retailers before DC decided on the delay, but word hasn’t yet leaked about what exactly got the book postponed, except that it contains a scene that’s “too close for comfort”.

Batman Incorporated #3 will now be released on August 22nd.
