Early Panels: Three Comics I’m Reading Tomorrow

Here’s what I’m looking forward to, or am at least curious about, coming out tomorrow.

Phantom Stranger #1

The zero issue really did not do it for me, but the Green Lantern book turned out to be pretty good, or at least good enough for me to stick around for the next issue. I’m hoping Phantom Stranger can pull the same trick.

Uncanny Avengers #1

Rick Remender and John Cassaday are a team that automatically get my attention, not matter how absurd or short-lived the book. In this particular case, though, I’m giving the book a shot simply because Remender can make anything worth reading for at least a few issues, and if it really stinks on toast, at least the art will be pretty.

MacGuyver: Fugitive Gauntlet #1

I’m picking this up not least because the idea of MacGuyver in a comic book makes me smile. As silly as the show was (and is), it’s actually fairly well suited to comics, and apparently this book is co-written by the creator of the show, so you know it won’t be something stupid like Robot MacGuyver. Just overly inventive silliness.

Secondly, the idea of Image running a licensed book is kind of amusing, in its own way. But Image has repeatedly shown, especially lately, a strong editorial staff and good taste in material; even the stuff I don’t like, I can see why Image went ahead with. So, there’s some actual promise, here.

Let me know what you’re looking forward to, with the list here, and we’ll talk some comics.
