Alison Brie Has Another Contender For ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ In Mary Elizabeth Winstead

Casting is underway for Captain America’s love interest in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The character will likely be Agent 13 (Sharon Carter), the niece of Peggy Carter, Cap’s love interest in the first movie. The deleted scenes revealed Peggy was still alive and living in the UK, and Marvel is looking for a 20-something with an accent (consistent with Sharon Carter). Most of the actors rumored to have screen tested so far are from the UK.

Last week we were hearing about four women testing for the role: UPROXX-favorite Alison Brie, Emilia Clarke (Daenerys from Game of Thrones), Jessica Brown Findlay (Sybil from Downton Abbey), and Imogen Poots (who is named “Imogen Poots”).

Now Latino Review — who have quite a few Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy rumors — reports someone new is the current frontrunner: Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Captain America should have no problem defeating her seven evil exes.

But don’t count Alison Brie out just yet. She’s crafty.
