Three (Less Hyped) Games To Look Forward To In 2013

By / 12.21.12

Most of us will probably be spending the next couple of weeks getting caught up on all the games they missed. We, on the other hand, are planning review schedules, and here are three games coming up that look worth playing.

Anarchy Reigns
Out January 8th

A psuedo-sequel to MadWorld from Platinum Games, this was up in the air for an actual North American release before. Now it’s coming in early January, and Sega is selling it for $30. The price is nice and more to the point, it’s a massive brawler with Platinum’s usual over-the-top character design and lots of online multiplayer modes.

Sly Cooper: Thieves In Time
Out February 5th

Sucker Punch’s Sly Cooper franchise has always disguised surprisingly challenging and well-developed gameplay with funny animals, and this promises to be no exception. It’ll be interesting to see Sanzaru’s take on the franchise, as they handled updating the PS2 games for PS3.

Army Of Two: The Devil’s Cartel
Out March 26th

This is going up against BioShock Infinite and is likely going to lose. Nonetheless, as a game it’s attention getting. This is actually coming courtesy of Visceral Games, better known for the Dead Space franchise. It’s different enough from Visceral’s other work to be worth at least a rent: Studios stretching, even just a little bit, is always a good thing.

This is just the first few months, of course. We’ve got another nine months of gaming on the way, and likely some entirely new systems towards the end of 2013. But for now, these are some of the more obscure games that deserve a shot. And save some budget room for Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut, for reasons we’ve already gotten into.

If there’s a game we missed, let us know in the comments.
