Exclusive Preview: ‘Arrow’ #4

Arrow, the CW show we amuse ourselves over every Wednesday night, also has an ongoing digital comic, and DC is putting out another collection of stories set in Starling City.

These are actually stories within continuity, supervised by the show’s overseers, Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg. The comics actually allow the writing staff a bit more flexibility in terms of action and focus: Stories tend to follow a single character, ranging from Ollie to the Huntress to Quentin Lance. They can also feature a bit more gore than the show is generally allowed to unleash.

The art chores, meanwhile, are largely handled by Eric Nguyen, who’s no stranger to DC’s digital efforts: He also worked on the Arkham Unhinged digital comics and also works on Justice League Beyond. Nguyen’s work here has a noirish vibe that nicely compliments a story of cage matches and rage issues.

Speaking of which: Ollie is after an assassin in this preview, a guy who has the charming and lighthearted nickname of “Deathblow”. The only way to get at him is through a series of cage matches, but, of course, that’s not the only problem here…
