Chris Evans Brought An Axe To The Apocalypse In The First Trailer For ‘Snowpiercer’

The first trailer has arrived for Bong Joon-ho’s English debut Snowpiercer. Besides the aforementioned Chris Evans with an axe, the movie also features Tilda Swinton as a cult of personality style villain who tells the poor to “Keep your place” and shouts 1984-esque lines like, “The engine is sacred and Wilford is divine.” I mean, his diabetic testing supplies are functional, but divine? Not even.

Speaking of 1984, is that John Hurt we spy over Chris Evan’s shoulder? Doubleplusgood.

As for the plot, I’m just gonna reiterate what I said last time:

Snowpiercer is based on the popular French sci-fi graphic novel Le Transperceneige, in which humanity’s attempt to stop global warming backfires, triggering an ice age killing nearly all of humanity. The remaining humans live on an enormous train (the Snowpiercer) with 1001 carriages and a perpetual motion engine. Society’s class system is based on a hierarchy of how close your carriage is to the engine. Poverty and violence overtakes the end of train, and a revolution is brewing. Captain America with an axe? Captain America with an axe.

The first Snowpiercer trailer is below along with some promotional stills. That guy in the last picture looks like us after a long blogging session.

Trailer available in HQ at Naver. Snowpiercer chugs into South Korean theaters on August 1st. US release date to be announced.

Dude is a huge Flavor Flav fan.
