It Ain’t Upton: Here’s Who The Blonde Woman In ‘Grand Theft Auto V’s Ads Is Designed After

There are only four days left until our eyes begin bleeding from concentrating so hard on Grand Theft Auto V. CAN’T WAIT. The commercials, billboard, and print advertisements are everywhere now, and like a modern-day Jessica Rabbit, one character design has caught people’s eyes: the blonde bikini babe (“BBB”) taking a selfie. And just like Mrs. Rabbit, who Disney animators designed after Marilyn Monroe, she’s modeled after a real person.

But first, here’s who it’s not: Kate Upton, despite evidence to the contrary.

According to the Daily Dot:

The real woman who inspired GTA V‘s bikini gal was model Shelby Welinder. She was hired by video game producer Rockstar through her agency to model for the advertisement in the fall of 2012.

“It’s nice to see all these people referring to me as a porn star and a slut,” Welinder told Nowgamer in 2012. “Quite entertaining to say the least. I worked for Rockstar and signed a release that said I’d be listed in the game credits.” (Via)

Welinder even provided her Rockstar invoice.

So there you go. For once, Kate Upton isn’t the center of attention. At least until an hour from now.
