Want More DC Comics Games? Good, Because A Lot Are Coming.

Warner Brothers Interactive has quickly become a major publisher, largely thanks to titles like Batman: Arkham City and Injustice: Gods Among Us. Possibly sensing a theme among their hits, Time Warner has said we’re going to see more DC Comics games. A lot more.

Kevin Tsujihara, the big cheese at Time Warner, had a discussion about company strategy recently, and this tidbit in particular stood out.

“…we are on track to having a great year in games and we feel very good about where that’s going. And as you said it’s being driven – the new franchises that we are going to be zoning are going to be DC franchises. We think there is big opportunities to build off of what we are doing throughout the rest of the company in games as well.”

We’ve already made a few suggestions along these lines, but we are forced to speculate what, exactly, Warner Brothers Interactive is up to. It’s fairly obvious they’re going to make Arkham games until we get sick of being Batman (so basically they’ll never stop until the sun dies), but beyond that it’s not terribly clear where they can go. Superman has not had the best history in gaming, and beyond that, DC doesn’t really have much to go on.

However, different genres would be nice. An RTS in the DC Universe would be a lot of fun, for example. Either way, though, we can expect to see more of them, and probably sooner rather than later.
