Here Is Our New Joker, Troy Baker, Performing ‘The Killing Joke’ At New York Comic-Con

Troy Baker, the new voice of the Joker in Batman: Arkham Origins

Since Mark Hamill has retired but not retired from voice acting, Troy Baker was brought in to voice The Joker in the upcoming prequel game Batman: Arkham Origins. As much as we are mesmerized by Mark Hamill’s Joker, he can’t voice every iteration of the character (until we get the whole cloning thing figured out, anyway). But will Troy Baker be able to satisfy our amoral clown desires? The video below from this weekend’s New York Comic-Con says yes.

At the Batman: Arkham Origins panel, Troy Baker talked about his audition to play The Joker. Among the snippets of dialogue he was asked to perform, a section from Alan Moore’s The Killing Joke commanded his attention. It was the scene where The Joker is forcing Commissioner Gordon to look at pictures of his wounded daughter, Barbara. He reads this audition-nailing monologue shortly after the two-minute mark in the video below. Yeah. We can see why he got the job.

Troy Baker also voiced Booker DeWitt in BioShock Infinite, Loki and Hawkeye in Ultimate Spider-Man, and some characters in the last two Saints Row games. Dude has range.

Batman: Arkham Origins releases October 25th for the PC, PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U.
