5 Games You Want Coming Out This Week (Nov. 10th – 16th)

Keeping track of video game releases isn’t as easy as it once was — the volume of games released each week is constantly expanding, and they’re spread over a mind-boggling array of platforms (consoles, PC, Mac, handhelds and mobile).

Well, I’m here to make things a little easier on you. Every week I’ll rattle off five games I think you should check out. These articles are not meant to be comprehensive lists of everything coming out that week — think of them as a nice rounded tasting menu. Each week I’ll try to highlight several games from different corners of the gaming landscape (handhelds, consoles, indie, PC, you name it) then finish up with a “Pick of the Week”.

Hit the jump for the five games you’re going to want to check out this week…

This Week’s DLC

BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea (PC, Xbox 360 & PS3, Nov. 12th)

The first major chunk of BioShock Infinite story DLC lands this Tuesday. Burial at Sea returns players to the underwater city of Rapture before everything went to hell and stars noir-ish versions of Booker and Elizabeth. As long as you’re not expecting this $15 DLC to be as good as the original BioShock, it should be an enjoyable slice of fanservice.

This Week’s Other DLC

XCOM: Enemy Within (PC, Xbox 360 & PS3, Nov. 12th)

The excellent XCOM: Enemy Unkown gets it’s first major expansion in XCOM: Enemy Within. The expansion of course contains new maps and missions, as well as the ability to give your agents superpowers or new alien smashing technology. Say goodbye to your free time strategy fans.

This Week’s Platformer

Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus (PS3, Nov. 12th)

Another year, another Ratchet & Clank game. You know the drill by now — wacky gadgets, weapons and platforming. If you liked past R&C games, you’ll probably like this one, even if the series has started to feel a little tired.

This Week’s Next-Gen Platformer

Knack (PS4, Nov. 15th)

Wait, what’s this? PS4? Yup, Sony’s Playstation 4 hits this week, and Knack is one of the two major exclusives you’ll be able to purchase at launch. Designed by Playstation 4 architect Mark Cerny, Knack pushes the PS4 by featuring a main character made up of hundreds of little floating trinkets. Cerny has described the game as a mix of Crash Bandicoot, Katamari Damacy and God of War, and word is the game’s both fun and surprisingly challenging.

Pick of the Week

Killzone: Shadow Fall (PS4, Nov. 15th)

And here it is — the game you pretty much have to get if you’re planning on picking up a PS4 this Friday. Killzone: Shadow Fall offers more of an open world that past Killzone games, allowing you to choose how you want to tackle missions. The game is also said to be a bit more stealth-based that past entries in the series. But hey, let’s be honest, new features don’t matter that much — you’re going to be playing this game for it’s graphics.

Well, the Playstation 4 is finally here! Planning to grab PS4 and/or any of the above-mentioned games? Any games you’re itching to get your hands on that I failed to mention? Hit the comments and let everyone know.
