5 Games You Want Coming Out This Week (Nov. 24th – 30th): A Turkey Of A Week

Keeping track of video game releases isn’t as easy as it once was — the volume of games released each week is constantly expanding, and they’re spread over a mind-boggling array of platforms (consoles, PC, Mac, handhelds and mobile).

Well, I’m here to make things a little easier on you. Every week I’ll rattle off five games I think you should check out. These articles are not meant to be comprehensive lists of everything coming out that week — think of them as a nice rounded tasting menu. Each week I’ll try to highlight several games from different corners of the gaming landscape (handhelds, consoles, indie, PC, you name it) then finish up with a “Pick of the Week”.

Hit the jump for the five games you’re going to want to check out this week…

This Week’s Indie Game

Escape Plan (PS4, Nov. 29th)

One of the PS Vita’s best games escapes to the TV screen this week, when Escape Plan comes to the Playstation 4. How Escape Plan will work on the PS4 is unclear since the game made extensive use of the Vitas unique capabilities, but I’m sure Sony has a plan of their own.

This Week’s DLC

Borderlands 2: The Horrible Hunger of the Ravenous Wattle Gobbler (PC, Xbox 360 & PS3, Nov. 26th)

Most video games are avoiding Thanksgiving week like the plague, but Borderlands 2 is actually embracing the holiday. Cut the family tension this Thanksgiving with a bit of giant virtual turkey hunting.

This Week’s JRPG

Ys: Memories of Celceta (PS Vita, Nov. 26th)

Yes, even though you probably haven’t played one since the 16-bit era, the Ys series continues on. Confusingly this is actually the third game to be considered Ys IV, even though the game isn’t actually called Ys IV. Basically two other companies made a Ys IV, but Ys: Memories of Celceta is made by original Ys creators Nihon Falcon, so this is the real Ys IV. Get all that? No? I don’t blame you.

This Week’s Anime Fighter

Saint Seiya: Brave Soldiers (PS3, Nov. 26th)

A fighter based on the classic anime series Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac. Why they’re making a video game for an anime from the 80s now I have no idea, but Saint Seiya: Brave Soldiers is developed by Dimps, the company who did most the heavy-lifting for Street Fighter IV, so it should be solid.

Pick of the Week

Professional Farmer 2014 (PC, Nov. 28th)

Hah, and here you thought this was a slow week! Did you know Professional Farmer 2014 features all four seasons? And the most authentic thresher handling in a video game? Well it does. And yes, they did misspell “carreer” in their trailer. You don’t need no fancy spelling to live the country life dag-nabbit!

So uh, yeah — happy Thanksgiving! Hope you weren’t planning to play any new games on Turkey Day. Any games you’re itching to get your hands on that I failed to mention? Hit the comments and let everyone know.
