Peter Jackson’s Hobbit movies try a bit too hard to turn a relatively light kid’s book into another Lord of the Rings-like epic, so it’s nice to see that the Lego video game version of The Hobbit isn’t taking things so seriously. Lego The Hobbit roughly covers the first two Peter Jackson movies — a second game covering the third movie will come out later.

I kind of loved the bit where Bilbo’s hair popped off. Lego The Hobbit will journey to stores in early 2014.
