Which Ant-Man Is Paul Rudd Playing? Edgar Wright Drops A Hint.

Ant-Man director Edgar Wright posted the picture above at his official site, accompanied simply by the word homework. As CBM points out, it’s a screencap from Season 2 Episode 5 of Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes (“To Steal An Ant-Man”), which is the first appearance of Scott Lang as Ant-Man.

“To Steal An Ant-Man” also introduces Heroes for Hire, Inc. consisting of Luke Cage and Iron Fist. They’re hired by Hank Pym to find his stolen Ant-Man suit, as he doesn’t want to get The Avengers involved. Scott Lang, a thief and electronics expert, is robbing banks with the stolen suit. It turns out Lang is trying to save his daughter’s life in that roundabout, comic book way. He then becomes the second Ant-Man, because reasons.

Coming Soon also had an interesting point.

Wright told SuperHeroHype many years ago that “The idea that we have for the adaptation is to actually involve both… Henry Pym and Scott Lang,” and with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige previously calling Wright’s Ant-Man movie a “heist film,” it seems likely that we might be seeing something similar on the big screen in 2015.

We were wondering how they were going to reconcile Paul Rudd’s insouciant awesomeness with the famously less awesome traits of Hank Pym *cough* (wifebeater) *cough*, but this picture suggests Rudd might not be playing the Hank Pym version after all. Or maybe Wright is just f*cking with us. Either way, Paul Rudd as any Ant-Man is cool with us.
