After another couple week hiatus, 5 Games is back, and will probably stay back for the rest of the year. As in the past, I'll rattle off five games I think you should check out this week. These articles are not meant to be comprehensive lists of everything coming out that week -- think of them as a nice rounded tasting menu. So, let's get to it...
This Week's Fables Game
The Wolf Among Us: Episode 2 - Smoke and Mirrors (PC, Xbox 360 & PS3, Feb. 4th)
After way too long a wait, the second chapter of Telltale's The Wolf Among Us arrives this week (unless they change their mind, which they might). Things look to be getting even darker and grimier in this installment, so steel yourself for some tough decisions!
This Week's Other Fables Game
Fable Anniversary (Xbox 360, Feb. 4th)
Oh, Fable -- the game kind of got a bad rap after it didn't live up to Peter Molyneux's absurdly overheated hype, but looking back it wasn't such a bad game. A lot of people now look at it as the best of the three Fable titles. Anyways, if you're looking to relive the early days of the Xbox, or are just wondering what all the fuss was about back then, Fable is now back with spiffy new HD graphics.
This Week's Indie Game
Jazzpunk (PC, Mac & Linux, Feb. 7th)
Jazzpunk is, uh, well it's hard to say exactly what Jazzpunk is. It's an adventure game, where the goal isn't to solve puzzles so much as it is to just make silly things happen. Basically it's a Naked Gun simulator featuring characters that look like they're made out of cardboard. If that doesn't sound appealing to you, I honestly don't know why you're reading this blog.
This Week's Lego Game
The Lego Movie Video Game (PC, Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, Wii U, PS Vita & 3DS, Feb. 7th)
Well, of course they're making a The Lego Movie video game. The various Lego video games have always been good, but The Lego Movie looks great, so hopefully the video game guys have been inspired to up their game just a little bit.
Pick of the Week
Bravely Default (3DS, Feb. 7th)
The game many are calling the true successor to classic Final Fantasy finally arrives in North America. Bravely Default is a classic JRPG, subtlety updated for 2014 featuring gorgeous Final Fantasy IX-esque visuals. Try to ignore the weird Engrish title and give this one a chance folks.
Dammit, time to get serious and put the last of my Christmas games to bed, because I need to get going on Bravely Default. Any games you're itching to get your hands on that I failed to mention? Hit the comments and let the world know.
