‘Watch Dogs’ Finally Has A Release Window

One of the biggest disappointments for gamers last year was the sudden delay of Watch Dogs. It left an enormous hole in the release schedule, it left many next-gen early adopters without the game they most wanted to play, and it left the rest of us disappointed that a promising open-world action game was off the table. Fortunately, Ubisoft has finally locked in when we’ll see it.

Annoyingly, they’ve yet to announce a specific date, but at least it’s less vague than “Spring 2014.” When can we expect to start shooting up Chicago, according to CVG? Sometime between April and June.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot announced the date in a financial release Monday. He said in a conference call with investors that the firm will give a more specific release date for the game “very soon.”

“As we got closer to release, as all the pieces of the puzzle were falling into place in our last push before completion, it became clear to us that we needed to take the extra time to polish and fine tune every detail so we can deliver a truly memorable and exceptional experience.”

Oh, we should mention the Wii U version is coming out “at a later date”, according to Ubisoft, so you Wii U owners got screwed again. Sorry, guys.

We’ll be curious to see how the game has improved since the delay. As you might remember, there were some ugly trailers floating around, so nearly a year’s delay should help with that. As a new date is announced, we’ll keep you posted.
