'Middle-Earth: Shadow Of Mordor' Has A Release Date And A Broody New Trailer

Warner Bros. Games

Warner Bros. and Monolith Productions’ dark take on the Lord of the Rings universe now has a release date, October 7th, and a rather grim new trailer. The first trailers and footage of the game made Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor look a lot like Assassin’s Creed: Fantasy Edition, but this new trailer lays on the God of War vibes heavy. Our protagonist Talion has had his wife and kid brutally killed, so now he’s going on a murder-fest of his own, because that’s the best way to deal with your grief.

Check out the trailer below…

I dunno, call me crazy, but I’d rather have an exploration-based game starring a hobbit than another brawly action game, but maybe I’m forgetting Tolkien’s books — were they heavier on brooding, kid murders and decapitations than I’m remembering?
