Somebody Tell Kate Mara She’s Adopted. ‘Fantastic Four’ Has Its Dr. Franklin Storm.

Awhile back we heard Dr. Franklin Storm (father to The Human Torch and The Invisible Woman) would appear in Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four reboot. We suggested a helpful workaround to make the character the biological father to both Michael B. Jordan and Kate Mara, but they didn’t go that route. Instead, THR says The Wire‘s Reg E. Cathey will be playing Dr. Storm.

But which version of Dr. Storm? Badass Digest explains:

This version is a scientist – which means we’re straight up getting the Ultimate Fantastic Four (in case you had any doubt previously, by the way). In mainstream 616-Marvel Universe Dr. Storm is a physician, but in the Ultimate universe he’s a doctor who is involved in the science project that creates the Fantastic Four. He also fires Harvey Elder from the program, leading to him becoming Mole Man.

Cathey played Norman Wilson in seasons four and five of The Wire, the same awesome show where Michael B. Jordon got his start. Kate Mara and him have also worked on the same show, Netflix’s House Of Cards. He was also completely unrecognizable in Tank Girl, which is clearly the most important credit on his IMDb.

Cathey will join a cast which includes Miles Teller as Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm (The Thing), Toby Kebbell as Doctor Doom, and Tim Blake Nelson as Harvey Elder (Mole Man). Fantastic Four is set to open June 19th, 2015, with a sequel planned for July 14th, 2017. The first film has already starting shooting in Louisiana.
