42) Resident Evil 2
Resident Evil 2 took the detailed pre-rendered backgrounds and cinematic camera angles of the original Resident Evil and pushed them to a whole new level. The cheesy FMV of the original was replaced CGI cutscenes that remain effective to this day and backgrounds were packed with unprecedented levels of detail. Resident Evil 2 remains one of the most atmospheric, visually striking horror games of all time.
41) Chrono Cross
Chrono Cross feels like the true spiritual successor to the lush JRPGs of the 16-bit era. Rather than chasing down “realistic” like many other Playstation RPGs, Chrono Cross’ backgrounds are bursting with color, life and personality. It was no technical slouch either, boasting impressive 3D battle graphics and eye-popping cinematics.
